Distributed Open Marketplace for Europe (DOME) is a project driven by a consortium of more than 40 organisations from 14 European countries.
Objective
The aim of this project is to create a single portal for Cloud, Edge and Artificial Intelligence services, designed as an online service catalogue offered by providers of all sizes and by federated marketplaces. The portal will ensure regulatory compliance and prioritise ease of use, inclusion and security.
As an ecosystem, the DOME marketplace will offer European Cloud & Edge service providers greater customer reach, integration with existing services, free publication of independent services, and validation of services in line with EU regulations. Meanwhile, portal customers will benefit from a fast and straightforward procurement process, a unique aggregated catalogue of pre-validated services, and reduced time spent searching, comparing and evaluating services, among other advantages.
Two of the key innovations of the DOME marketplace are the use of verifiable credentials and eIDAS-compliant signatures to provide the required level of trust and legal certainty, and the use of blockchain for deploying the catalogue. A first version of the marketplace will be available from 4 July 2024, enabling providers to register and publish their services. The project began in January 2023 and will run for 36 months.
Alastria’s participation
Within the DOME project, Alastria collaborates in the work packages related to building the marketplace ecosystem (with a strong focus at this stage on communication activities ahead of the upcoming portal launch), providing the necessary technical infrastructure, and defining governance and business models. In addition, the partners DigitelTS and Inetum participate as affiliated entities of Alastria. Other partners involved in the DOME project include IN2, Fiware, FundingBox, Tecnalia, Digitanimal, Orange and HashNet.
